Cassa Sponsor-a-Student Program

Each year many of the participants in our various programs ask for financial help. The student's registration fee covers approximately 50% of the actual cost of their participation.

Cassa is a charitable organization and your tax-deductible contribution to the Cassa Sponsor-a-Student program will help a deserving student attend a Cassa program. You will receive a tax deductible receipt, your name will be included on our list of donors on performance and recital programs and on our website.

Your contribution will enhance the ongoing education of music and arts students in a professional and nurturing environment. Cassa is registered as charity 88490 6249 RR0001 under the Charitable Fund-raising Act in the province of Alberta.

We gratefully accept a donation of any amount for any program, as a contribution to our general revenue fund, or to the Marissa Staddon Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Irina Ginzburg Memorial Scholarship, or the Emma Kundert Memorial. Again, your name will be included on our list of donors on performance and recital programs and you will receive a tax-deductible receipt.

Your donations do work for our students:

"Thank you for this great opportunity, without this I wouldn't be able to go to the piano program.”

The Benefits of Giving

Piano Session Scholarship Information

Marissa Staddon Memorial Scholarship

Marissa Staddon was tragically killed in an avalanche in 2003. She had been a student at Cassa Piano. Cassa has set up a Marissa Staddon Memorial Scholarship Fund to award a $100 cash prize to the most outstanding Piano session student each year.  As the fund grows, this special award will continue and other deserving student awards will be given. This scholarship, which reflects her personality, recognizes and encourages others to maintain the high standard that Marissa held for herself.

The Marissa Staddon Memorial Scholarship is awarded to the Cassa Piano student who displays the most outstanding attitude, citizenship and talent. This award reflects the values which are firmly entrenched in the Calgary Arts Summer School Piano program's philosophy and program. The recipient is a person who:

• takes advantage in the finest way possible of all that was offered during the week of Cassa Piano,

• arrives at the session with their musical selections extremely well prepared,

• throughout the week demonstrates openness to new ideas,

• participates enthusiastically in all of the activities,

• interacts well with fellow participants and faculty, and

• can be described as a positive role model for their fellow participants.

Irina Ginzburg Memorial Scholarship

Cassa created a memorial to the late Irina Ginzburg who was an enthusiastic supporter of its summer programs. She was first a volunteer at the Cassa Piano, then joined the teaching staff and became an active member of the Cassa Board of Directors. In her honour, a scholarship prize of $100 is awarded to the most improved Piano student(s). The Irina Ginzburg Memorial Scholarship is awarded to the most improved Cassa Piano participant who comes well prepared and incorporates suggestions and guidance from the clinician and teachers with good will and enthusiasm.

ARMTA Recognition Fund Scholarship

The Alberta Registered Music Teachers' Association award recognizes a Cassa Piano student who, in the opinion of the instructors, "shows Outstanding Promise". The award consists of one $500 scholarship or alternatively, two $250 scholarships. The award is presented at the discretion of ARMTA and may not be available every year. We are grateful for ARMTA’s support of Cassa Piano students.

Other Sponsorship Opportunities

Emma Kundert Memorial Fund

The Emma Kundert Memorial Fund will be used for CASSA innovation in communication and technology. Monetary gifts will assist CASSA in creating a stronger Internet presence through website improvements, online registration and social media marketing.

CASSA Grant-in-Aid Scholarship

The CASSA Grant-in-Aid Scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the President to a student who, in the President’s opinion, would benefit from attending a session such as Cassa Piano or Cassa Musical in exchange for working as an assistant at Cassa Kids, Cassa PlayWriting, or at both.

Originally designed to assist talented students who would otherwise have been unable to attend a program because of financial barriers, this scholarship has since evolved to have been awarded to deserving students based on factors that don’t match the criteria of our other scholarships or busaries. Any student who receives this scholarship understands that it is a special honour to have the opportunity to learn from Cassa students and instructors.
