Are you interested in developing your musical creativity? Do you have ideas for songs, melodies, rhythms or chord progressions that you would like to be able to develop into a complete piece? Are you a player or singer who would like to explore your own musical creativity, but do not know where to start?

Words and music together can create a special space, or give a certain feeling, or bring back a distant memory—do you have songwriting ideas that you want to communicate, but are not quite sure how to get them on the page?

Have you wondered how the “great composers” were able to start with a simple motif, or perhaps four notes, and developed them into a four movement symphony? Have you wondered how a jazz musician takes an idea from a piece and seemingly spontaneously creates an improvised “solo” on the fly?

If you can relate to any of the above questions, please join us this summer at Cassa Creative Music! The instructors are experienced composers, song-writers and improvisors. You may choose to specialize in one aspect offered in the course, but all participants will have the opportunity to explore their own creativity in each of these domains. There will be a final concert to showcase everyone’s creations from the week. The Cassa Cabaret performances with a live band will take place on July 12th, 2023, 7:00pm, at the Brentview Baptist Church.

This program is for students, aged 10 to adult. Some musical experience is helpful, but it is not necessary. All instrumentalists and voice students are welcome to attend.
